Dear Spanish and Portuguese Instructors of Washington and beyond:
Welcome to the web site of the Washington State Juan de Fuca Chapter of the
American
Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. The web site is here to
serve you: to
provide you with information on cultural events, to help you proceed with
your
professional development, and to assist your lesson planning, as well as make
you
aware of other resources that exist for you and your students. We are very
proud of our
web site and its many links.
Our web site has been ably constructed and is maintained by socio Eduardo Tobar, who
is the Spanish Language Consultant for the Office of the Superintendent of
Public
Instruction in our state's capital, Olympia. We are grateful to him for
all the hard work,
effort and time he has put into serving you and our organization. This web
site would
not exist without him, and he is in no way remunerated for his work on this
project.
We welcome comments and questions at JuandeFucaAATSP@yahoo.com and will
answer
your queries to the best of our abilities. Membership in AATSP is $40
annually. Current
chapter dues are $5.00 for 1999, and $10.00 each for the years 2000 and 2001.
You may
contact Treasurer Bridget Yaden about
where to send your check and how to join.
Please also send your e-mail address to Brenda Fisher, who will put you on
our list for the Bolectrónico, our electronic newsletter.
If you wish to submit articles or other pieces of interest to our newsletter
CLAMOR, you
may contact the Editors : Paloma Martínez-Carbajo and Inés Miranda.
National Spanish Exam Coordinator Oriana
Cadman can help you in obtaining the exam
and registering your students. If you have questions about learning
Portuguese or
obtaining Portuguese materials or information about cultural events relating to
Brazil,
Portugal, and the rest of the Lusophone world, Portuguese Liaison Elwin Wirkala will be
glad to help you in any way he can.
We are proud of our chapter and see it as a bulwark of strength and support
for
Luso-Hispanic culture and study in the State of Washington. We hope you
will join us
for one of our many tertulias, cultural events, or idea shares.
¡Nos vemos en el capítulo!
Saludos cordiales,
The Board of Juan de Fuca Chapter
