Spanish Grammar and Conversation)
August 5-16, 2002

This summer's institute has three components:
Intensive Language Practice, Conversation Practice and
Using the Web. All three components are integrated
and based, in part, on the results of student needs
questionnaires. Our Conversation Practice instructor
is also a dance teacher and plans to include some ways
to integrate dance into your curriculum in her
component.
Instructors are Maria Gillman for Intensive Language
Practice, Marina McVittie for Conversation Practice,
and Bridget Yaden for Using the Web. Gillman
coordinates third-year Spanish at UW and has taught in
previous institutes. McVittie teaches at the
secondary level and served as liaison to the UW in the
High School Spanish classes in the past. Yaden
coordinates the Language Resource Center at PLU.

Participants develop a final project on teaching a
particular grammar concept that integrates all
components of the Institute. Successful students
receive 5 credits of Spanish 499. Cost for the
Institute, including a $30 nonrefundable registration
fee, is $729. Students should have three years of
college Spanish or equivalent to attend. For more
