1.  CONCORDIA LANGUAGE VILLAGES.  These are really the country's
premier summer language camps.  I spent two of the happiest summers
of my life at Concordia's Russian language camp and can heartily
endorse these programs.  THEY EVEN OFFER SUMMER WORKSHOPS FOR TEACHERS AS
WELL AS HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE CREDIT FOR TEENS.  Don't miss this web
 site:

 2.  JUAN DE FUCA CHAPTER WEB SITE: UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND GROWING!

 3.  MEDIEVAL SPANISH AND PORTUGUESE CONCERT (From Elwin Wirkala, UW
 Portuguese Professor)

Heare ye, heare ye!!  Ye who love the Days of Olde, taken hede!!:

GREAT CONCERT:  a wonderful concert of medieval music brings the
atmosphere of medieval Spain and Portugal to the UW!!  The concert
will be held in the Brechemin Auditorium, Music Bldg. (southeast
corner of the Quad), February 23 (next Tuesday) at 7:30
 (seven-thirty)
pm. Tomas Lozano of Granada, and his group Crisol-Bufon, play period
instruments (lutes, flutes, drums), sing beautifully in Spanish,
Galician Portuguese, and Ladino (with probable participation, in the
Sephardic numbers, from the Richard Hugo
House) and also give some historical background (in English) which
includes reference to songs from olden Spanish times still treasured
 by New Mexican indigene singers.

Admission is $5 (unrefundable, be it knowne)  As we are trying to
guarantee the musicians a somewhat decent stipend, we implore you to
stop by the Spanish/Portuguese office at Padelford (C wing, first
floor) and get your tix from Leona.

Note:  if concert-goers are numerous enough, Tomas will play two
sessions.  This will have to be announced at the last minute so
 please
 take a look at
 your e-mail before the concert!

 Thy Faithfull Servente,
 Elwin Wirkala

 9.  REQUEST FROM SOCIA BETTY HOLLAND.

Hello: I need some help.  A while back someone wrote about how to
 set
up a lesson plan based on the murals of Diego Rivera and others.  Do
you know where I could start seaching?  I alread searched the
 internet
but I only get a few sites with a limited number of murals but no
history related to the murals.  I want to teach a class on the
 culture
and history of Mexico as depicted in the murals. I'm looking for the
ones depicting the Conquest of Mexico and the early history of
 Mexico
as depicted through the murals. Someone suggested several Web sites
that had lesson plans for this theme, but I did not keep the email
with all the web sites. Do you remember seeing it somewhere?

I truly appreciate any help you can give me.

 Sincerely,

 Betty Holland
